Middle School Information Session
Bilingual learning means genuine fluency in both French and English: from the Early Years onwards, pupils live and learn in both languages every week, building strong oral skills, reading and writing strategies and the confidence to move flexibly between them in every subject.
This bilingual core is enriched by a truly multilingual outlook. Learners benefit from early exposure to German and discover Spanish, Italian, and Mandarin through projects, events and creative activities that open their ears, minds and horizons to the wider world.
Multilingual community
Students belong to a global community welcoming learners from all over the world, with over 40 nationalities represented in our classrooms.
Bilingual learning
Students achieve full English and French bilingualism after three years at Mosaic, benefitting from a co-teaching model of native English and French teachers in every class.
Focus on German
From 4P onwards, learners study German as part of the core curriculum. In Middle School, 10% of teaching is delivered in German, accelerating fluency.
Tailored language support
Children who begin with either no French or English are supported through personalised language tutoring, ensuring they reach an A2 level in reading and B1 in oral after two years.
Tech-enhanced learning
Digital tools including AI, FlashAcademy, MyBlee Math and Formative provide repetition, visual support and personalised pacing, helping students build confidence as they progress.
World languages
Our extra-curricular Mosaic Academy and the Multicultural Project offer students the opportunity to explore Spanish, Mandarin, English and German through conversation, games and cultural discovery.

Early Years
At our bilingual school in Geneva, children learn one week in English and the next in French, with two mother‑tongue teachers always present. At this stage, they develop strong oral skills: they use words and simple sentences to express their needs and feelings, listen attentively to stories and songs, and begin to interact confidently with adults and peers.
They also take their first steps into literacy, recognising their own name and familiar words in print.
Primary School
At our bilingual Primary School in Geneva, students deepen their French–English bilingualism by broadening vocabulary and speaking in more precise sentences while strengthening listening. They connect spoken language with print and move into fluent reading and accurate writing, using cursive script, analysing texts, debating ideas and presenting research with progressively more precise academic vocabulary.
From 4P, German is added through a playful, fully oral introduction that later evolves into an action‑oriented, communicative programme leading to A1‑level skills.
Middle School
In Middle School, French provides the academic backbone of the curriculum and secures smooth access to the Swiss system. English is equally prominent, with more teaching time than in the public sector and level‑based groups (beginner and advanced) to ensure targeted progress. English Language and Literature, along with several complementary subjects, are taught fully in English, while Mathematics, Science, Geography and History alternate between French and English according to a clearly structured schedule.
German rounds out this linguistic landscape, and Latin is offered to students who wish to broaden their cultural and linguistic horizons.
The Mosaic Academy offers a dynamic, high‑quality language programme where students build confidence, fluency and cultural awareness in a truly multicultural environment. In small, interactive groups, learners study English, Spanish, German, Mandarin and Italian, with classes on Wednesday afternoons and selected after‑school sessions to give families flexibility without compromising academic standards.
At our bilingual school in Geneva, groups are carefully structured by level and age so each student is appropriately supported and challenged, from young beginners discovering English through games, songs and conversation to older learners advancing their skills. Open to both Mosaic and external students, the Academy empowers children and young people to think globally, communicate confidently and thrive in an interconnected world.
Each year, Mosaic unites the whole school in a shared multicultural project, a 20‑year tradition rooted in our founder’s belief in celebrating both other cultures and our own. What began as a “cultural journey” day with classroom country stations, UN‑style passports, and family food sharing has grown and evolved with the school.
Over the years, children have explored Mandarin, Russian and Arabic through art, dance, music and food, learning to appreciate diversity and recognise shared human experiences. Today, the project focuses even more on home cultures, giving every child a voice while integrating geography, history, art, writing, research, and presentation—making it one of École Mosaic’s most powerful and enriching learning experiences.
Through a rich mix of language experiences, we help students build the skills and resilience they need to thrive.
Digital tools are used carefully to enrich oral language, listening and storytelling. Children use the bilingual MyBlee Math for Schools app to strengthen mathematical language and FlashAcademy to grow linguistic skills. Formative enables teachers to design targeted activities and give timely feedback.
Teachers leverage AI tools to support lesson planning and personalisation through the ISP AI Toolbox, ensuring technology enhances teaching while learning remains human-centred. Technology use is always guided by teachers and complements rich, active, face-to-face language learning in the classroom.
Learners above A2 level take part in standardised tests (GL and EC) and receive grades aligned with UK and Swiss objectives. Those who are above A2 but still need help join small, targeted support groups, while from 3P onwards, children without three years in a bilingual English/French setting receive pull-out tutoring in the language that needs strengthening.
At the start of the year, parents are informed if their child will take part in our linguistic tutoring programme. Throughout the year, we share updates through a dedicated tutoring booklet and regular parent–teacher meetings. We also remain available to meet with parents individually to answer questions or discuss progress in more detail.
